Strong Heart

This is a portrait of myself, from an indigenous point of view.

I am Jeffrey George, an Ojibway artist from the Kettle & Stony Point First Nation, situated along the shores of Lake Huron in Ontario, Canada. I am from the Otter Clan.

The Otter is playful and full of laughter. The otter as the one that showed the people of the world the four Firections with the power that each direction offers. This is part of the Medicine Wheel.

A traditional headdress is a symbol of leadership. It is a position earned through hard work and dedication with determination to lead his people towards a brighter future.

The eagle staff of the Anishinabe people with feathers from all birds that hold great spiritual significance is shown, as is the feather which is considered an honourable gift from the Creator of life.

The lines in this painting are charged with sacred energy.
